UP Human Ecology Student Society

UP Human Ecology Student Society (UP-HESS) is an academic organization that promotes service, academic excellence, and ideals. The organization upholds the Human Ecological principle that as humans, we are part of nature and not against it. Hence why we promote ecological consciousness and concern for the betterment of the Philippine Society.

  1. TagHESSan ng Talino - An annual quiz contest open to all students from the College of Human Ecology taking HUME 100.

  2. NutrHESSion - An annual quiz contest open to all students from the College of Human Ecology taking HNF 101.

  3. Kasakalikasan - "Kasama sa Kalikasan” is a tree planting activity and is one of the organization’s longest running projects.

  4. GROWTH: Get Ready on Writing Thesis - A research writing seminar which aims to help in enhancing the student’s writing skills and give relevant tips in thesis writing.

  5. Book Fair - UP HESS also caters to the needs of reference books of BS Nutrition students through its semi-annual book fair which offers books at very affordable prices and special bundles.

  6. Project Love Hope - A community project of UP HESS where the members visit orphanages to extend help by giving the children gifts, and conducting a fun-filled children's party.

UP Society of Human Settlements Planners (UP-HSP Soc) is a student-led planning organization at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). With a focus on Human Settlements Planning (HSP), UP HSP Soc aims to promote the study of HSP and its crucial role in achieving sustainable development in an ever-changing and uncertain environment.

  • World Town Planning Day - an international event that acknowledges the accomplishments and contributions of planners worldwide. UP HSP Soc hosts multiple events and activities during this day, focusing on the history and significance of planning in creating livable, sustainable, and resilient communities.

  • Steward's Journey - an event specifically designed for students enrolled in HUME 100. This initiative raises awareness about current environmental issues and underscores the importance of planning in our daily lives.

  • Environmental Youth Conference - The organization hosts the Environmental Youth Conference, which invites Filipino youth from across the country to discuss innovative solutions to climate change. This conference equips youth leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to build climate-resilient communities.

The Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral ng Teknolohiyang Panlipunan – University of the Philippines Los Baños (STP-UPLB) is a duly-recognized socio-civic development-oriented student organization from the University of the Philippines Los BañosThe organization is guided by the principles of Social Technology in its values and programs for the benefit and welfare of society. It aims to promote unity and good fellowship among members, develop and strengthen the knowledge, skills, and attitude of the members, be an instrument to develop the capacity and strengthen the capabilities of those in need and disadvantaged sectors of society, and introduce Social Technology as an academic discipline to achieve the goals of the organization.

  • Face to Face and Online HECOCAMPs - An ecological camp for students taking up Introduction to Human Ecology to instill service, ecological consciousness, and stewardship.

  • DIAFOTISMOS - A quiz bee for CHE students taking up SDS 101, Introduction to Social Development.

  • NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY - A national conference by DSDS in which STP-UPLB provided publicity and technical assistance

  • PMPC ON WHEELS - An initiative by DSDS and Pinagdanlayan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) wherein STP-UPLB provided manpower and publicity assistance for the selling of goods of PMPC to the UPLB community

  • Ambagan - A blood donation drive for the young cancer ward patients of the national children's hospital

  • Push-up drive - Feminine undergarment and hygiene product drive for homeless and maltreated women and girls in Los Baños

  • Let Hair Go - Hair donation drive for PGH & NCH Children Cancer Ward

  • Station IP - An education drive for the Lumad children of the Save Our Schools Network

  • KaiSAKA: Kasama ang Magsasaka, Isang Paglubog sa Batayang Masa - A basic mass integration conducted in Pinagdanlayan, Quezon where the resident members immersed with the local farmers and workers of the area to understand the social and political realities lived and experienced by them.
